In loving memory of Yrma Alvarez

An analysis 24 years after

Oh beautiful sea!
Lovely Punta de Tralca
of a mysterious coming and going,
where my anxieties sink
and I tried to mitigate my distress,
and I prayed God to give me
all the necessary strength to think of my future.

When I watched your majestic waves
and I let go all my pains into them.

When my heart bled from narrowness
seeing my house destroyed.

And I admired your waters which seamed to talk (to me)
and many times brought my tears away
from that sorrow, that only God with his endless love
and mercy soothed and gave me the courage
to go on and think of the future.

Today, when I come back to admire your majestic waters,
that pain and that sorrow have already gone.

Today I give grace to God for all his divine goodness
who helped me look with great happiness
at this new future.

Today I come back to admire your beautiful waters
with gladness and thank God for
giving me once more the opportunity to see this:
my lovely Punta de Tralca, my beautiful sea of my beloved Chile.
